From The Philadelphia Business Journal: Dilworth co-COO moves to Obermayer to lead South Jersey expansion
Brett Wiltsey, former Dilworth Paxson co-Chief Operating Officer, joined Obermayer’s Business and Finance department at the Mount Laurel, NJ, office on July 1, where he will serve as managing partner of the firm’s Mount Laurel office and be charged with expanding the firm’s New Jersey footprint.
“There is a lot of pent-up demand from my clients after the past year,” Brett said. “So I had to look at what they needed and I called Matt about making a move. I just felt that Obermayer had a deeper bench on the business and finance side.”
Brett’s practice deals with general corporate, business transactions, real estate, and financing matters, with a focus on serving as general counsel to emerging companies, representing financial institutions in loan work and developers and municipalities in South Jersey real estate and land use.
Mathieu Shapiro, managing partner of Obermayer, said Wiltsey will be charged with growing the firm’s New Jersey presence. The Mount Laurel office currently has between eight and 10 lawyers working there full-time. Most are litigators and Shapiro would like to see more of a transactional focus there.
“We would like to grow that office like we have in Pittsburgh or Doylestown,” Mathieu said in an interview. “In any office, we would like to be viewed as the go-to mid-Atlantic firm.”
Obermayer was ranked No. 18 in the Business Journal’s annual list of Philadelphia’s largest law firms in January with 103 local lawyers.
