Matthew Rogers to Present on the Intersection of Psychology and Family Law at ACBA’s CLE

October 24, 2024

Family law partner Matthew Rogers will be presenting at the Allegheny County Bar Association’s (ACBA) CLE titled “Nightmare on Ross Street: The Haunting Effects of Dysfunctional Families” on Thursday, October 24, 2024. This program will explore the intersection of psychology and family law issues.

This four-hour CLE program kicks off with a primer on family systems to better understand how families function and the relational dynamics within them. The program will then move to a discussion regarding the differentiation between psychological disorders and traits, such as alienation vs. resist/refuse and narcissistic personality disorder vs. narcissistic traits.

The program will focus on court-involved therapy, including learning about therapists’ role, insurance concerns and what types of therapy are right for each family. A discussion of safety and reunification counseling in light of Kayden’s Law will round out the course. Ethical considerations will be discussed.
