In the October 25, 2024, Supply Chain Dive article titled “ILA, USMX to Resume Contract Talks Next Month,” Melissa Atkins, a labor and employment partner at Obermayer, shared her insights on the labor negotiations between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX). According to Atkins, the parties may have postponed negotiations until after the U.S. presidential election.
“The election will be over by November, and we will know who the 47th President of the United States will be. The Presidential election could impact U.S. labor relations, including these negotiations,” she noted.
