Melissa Atkins to Present at AEJMC Annual Conference

Melissa Atkins, a partner in Obermayer’s labor and employment department, will present at The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) Annual Conference on August 8-11, 2024. Melissa’s panel, titled “Preparing Students Needing Course Accommodations to Succeed Beyond College,” will address the challenges faculty face in preparing students for professional careers, especially when non-ADA accommodations may not be honored by future employers. This issue is further complicated for students with diverse identities. The panel will explore whether these learning modifications transition to the workforce and, if not, how communication students can effectively navigate the shift from college to professional environments where accommodations may be less generous.
