Michael Bertin Presents on Retainer Agreements at Philadelphia Bar Association CLE
Michael Bertin, Co-Chair of Obermayer’s Family Law Department, was a panelist at the Philadelphia Bar Association’s CLE program, “You’re Hired! The Positives and Pitfalls of Retainer Letters for the Family Lawyer,” held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The program offered family law attorneys practical guidance on drafting clear, effective, and ethical client retainer letters. Topics included the essential components of a strong agreement, tailoring letters to specific case types, avoiding common pitfalls, ethical obligations, and strategies for setting clear expectations and fostering client trust from the outset.
Michael co-chairs Obermayer’s Family Law Group, where he focuses his practice on child custody, child support, alimony, property distribution, divorce, and prenuptial agreements. He currently serves as President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). Michael is also a former Chair of both the Family Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, where he now co-chairs the Custody Committee. In addition, he is a co-author of Pennsylvania Child Custody Law, Practice, and Procedure.
