Michael Thom Talks about Banks’ Lending Restrictions on CRE Loans in Bisnow National

Obermayer partner Michael Thom, who specializes in public and private financing of commercial real estate properties, was interviewed by Bisnow National in connection with the changes in banks’ lending standards on commercial real estate (CRE) loans. The article, titled “Lending Restrictions, Looming Regulation For Banks Cast ‘Long Shadow’ On CRE,” published on September 18, 2023, states that during the second quarter, between 60% and 70% of senior loan officers at 85 banks surveyed by the Federal Reserve reported having tightened standards on all categories of CRE loans. 

“Whether it’s the borrower or their guarantor, or their assets or liquidity or the overall trajectory of a project, all those things are being looked at harder,” said Michael Thom.
