Obermayer Attorneys to Present at the 2023 PBA Family Law Section Summer Meeting
Obermayer attorneys Michael Bertin, Michael Hooper, and Amanda Frett will present at this year’s PBA Family Law Section Summer Meeting, which will be held at The Sagamore Resort on Lake George Bolton Landing, NY on July 13-16, 2023.
Michael Bertin will be presenting on the Plenary Panel on Friday, July 14th. His session titled “Agreements: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” will explore best practices in the drafting from the initial client meeting through signing and enforcement, including a review of important issues and pitfalls of which practitioners should be aware.
Michael Hooper will be presenting at the Plenary Panel on Saturday, July 15th. His panel, titled “Hot Topics and Trends in Business Valuations” will discuss how Inflation, COVID-19, rising interest rates, and other factors have changed the way that expert witnesses analyze historical trends in reaching their professional opinions. The conversation will continue with tips about how to determine whether specific items should be considered as an asset or income and how that determination may affect marital estate and litigation, the effects of commercial real estate appraisals on operating businesses and holding companies, how to work with your expert witness to avoid double dipping concerns throughout the litigation process and address nuances such as PPP, EIDL, and ERC.
Amanda Frett will be presenting on Sunday, July 16th. Her panel, titled “Case Law, Rules & Legislative Updates” will discuss the most recent appellate decisions available since the last meeting in an interactive panel of attorneys with various levels of experience who will offer their insight, wisdom, and practice pointers on how these decisions will impact family law issues in the future.
