About Us:
Obermayer is a dynamic Philadelphia-based midsized law firm that represents clients in a variety of cases, including complex commercial litigation and appellate matters. We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven entry-level paralegal to join our litigation team. This role is ideal for a recent college graduate interested in the legal field and eager to gain hands-on experience working closely with attorneys on high-stakes cases.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with case management, document review, and trial preparation
- Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects
- Interview clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements
- Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, and discovery materials
- Conduct legal and factual research under attorney supervisionDraft legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition summaries, and correspondence
- Manage deadlines and coordinate with court clerks for filings
- File motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures
- Prepare and assist with exhibits and materials for depositions, hearings, and trials, which may include attending trials and hearings
- Provide administrative support for litigation matters
- Comply with requirements of firm financial departments by submitting daily time through billing software
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (no prior legal experience necessary; a paralegal certificate is a plus but also not necessary)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take instruction, adapt quickly, and learn from others
- Willingness to think critically and propose creative ideas for case strategies
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Collaborative mindset and eagerness to contribute to a team
