Matthew E. Selmasska

Matt’s a versatile litigator who focuses his practice on real estate and business disputes. He’s committed to going the distance to achieve excellent client results. As an attorney in Obermayer’s Litigation Department, Matt prosecutes and defends cases involving partnership disputes, employee restrictive covenants, creditors’ rights, contract disputes, land use and other property matters.

Matt also has experience defending personal injury actions and other insurance matters in notoriously plaintiff-friendly venues. He’s also experienced in defending claims brought under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act and class actions under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Matt’s licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and also practices before a variety of domestic arbitration forums.

Outside of his practice, Matt’s an American history nerd, particularly interested in the American Revolution and the Civil War. He’s active in his church, stays fit through weightlifting and CrossFit, and enjoys relaxing at the Delaware beaches.

Matt has experience in advocating for clients in and out of the courtroom in various areas of civil law. Some of his most notable cases include:

• Successfully argued before a panel of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, which affirmed a client’s successful motion to dismiss a commercial insurance dispute.
• Sat second chair at a legal malpractice trial with potential seven-figure exposure, ultimately resulting in a favorable settlement.
• Obtained a complete defense verdict in a Pennsylvania arbitration matter on behalf of a nationwide trucking company.
• Defended a major general contractor against construction defect claims at a construction mediation before the American Arbitration Association.
