Terry Mutchler Named Attorney of the Year in The Legal Intelligencer’s 2023 Pennsylvania Legal Awards

2023 Pennsylvania Legal Awards Attorney of the Year

Terry Mutchler, Chair of Obermayer’s Transparency & Public Data Practice and Founding Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records, was named Attorney of the Year in The Legal Intelligencer’s 2023 Pennsylvania Legal Awards, held at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia on June 14, 2023. 

Terry received the award in recognition of her pursuit of records from Pennsylvania’s Public School Employees Retirement System. Terry represented Sen. Katie Muth, D-Montgomery, in what appears to be the first suit in which a sitting member of a public pension board has had to take their own board to court to obtain records.

In accepting her award, Terry said lawyers should focus on their value to the community. She called on her fellow attorneys to work with young lawyers to “show them what we do, how we do it so that our mistakes are not stumbling blocks to them but rather stepping stones so that young lawyers can advance the profession.”
